The Hokusai Museum
In the 40s of Showa (1965-75) the people of Obuse made various attempts to spread the word about the "Hokusai of Obuse" to the world. The Hokusai Museum was opened as a culmination of these efforts.
Built for many purposes; to prevent the outflow of local Hokusai works, to store the ceiling paintings that Hokusai painted on festival floats in this town, and to provide a center for Hokusai research, this building has determined the course of Obuse's growth.
