Takai Kozan Memorial

This memorial is managed by the Obuse Education Committee and serves to pass on the legacy of Takai Kozan (the 12th head of the Ichimura family which manages Obusedo and the Masuichi-Ichimura Sake Brewery). During the Edo period his home called Yuzenro became a cultural salon attended by all sorts of contemporary intellectuals.

Katsushika Hokusai, Sakuma Shozan, Kusaka Genzui, Fujimoto Tetsuseki, people from a wide range of fields visited that place built in the Kyoto style. The scenery of the second floor with a view of Karitayama definitely brings to mind the image of a traditional Kyoto house with a view of Higashiyama.
