San Poo Sha

If you gaze out from the edge of the Hokusai Museum, you'll notice the impressive waves of tiled roofs. During the chestnut confectionary rennovation in 1981 (Showa 56), the utmost attention was given to the view from the Hokusai Museum. For this purpose, the roof of the confectionary was made with traditional kawara tiles and the outside walls with kawara bricks. This became the chestnut confectionary "San Poo Sha." These buildings designed to complement the view from other buildings, truly are pioneers of Obuse building techniques.
