The New Year in Obuse, village of chestnuts. We will share our good luck with this confection. We will sell them over the counter after offering them to the estate guardian deity in the morning. A red, white, and pink confections made from kuri an steamed with sake, and filled with sugar-boiled chestnuts.

A confections made from kuri an, egg yolks, and shiro an, colored red from walnuts and vegetables, designed to look like a peach. The spring, when the new buds spring up is a wonderful time.

What look like somen noodles are actually freshly-picked chestnuts. Steamed chestnuts have their shells removed and are strained to give them the appearance of noodles. Then they are layered on top of kuri an. In order to preserve the subtle flavor of new chestnuts, once we receive your order, we will run and carry it to our confectionary. Even in the village of chestnuts, this exquisite flavor can only be enjoyed during the time new chestnuts are prepared and at that place. Enjoy pure chestnuts with no added sugar.

Ichida is a name for a type of dried persimmon known since the Edo period. Ichida is an exclusive product of Minami Shinano. This confection looks like an Ichida dried persimmon and is made with purple rice and walnuts wrapped around kuri an and has a stem made from a sugar-boiled chestnut placed on top of it.
